Two reasons:

1. The phrase "woodshed," in its verb form, is a phrase often used among jazz musicians. We mean it in context of needing to retreat to isolation in order to practice and master something (transcribe a solo, learn a song, chord progression, etc.).

2. There's something about the context of agentic coding and how it often moves us up a layer of abstraction that's bounced around my head. We have to know enough about what we're doing to get the most out of agents, but these new tools sometimes make me feel like I've shed an outer layer and I can move a bit more freely.

Combined, it's a nebulous phrase to capture how I conceptualize reading, taking notes, experimenting with side projects, practicing, learning, and sharing.
